“Troy and I met when I was 17. It was at my cousin’s wedding where I was a bridesmaid and he was a friend of the groom. My cousin had spoken about it before so I knew who he was.
We were both outside during the reception so I went up to him and said “You’re Troy”
We spoke for a bit and I didn’t see him again until the bus ride to the hotel where we spoke the whole time. We chatted online after that and a while later we arranged a night to watch our favourite show together and hang out.
We frequently spent evenings together and he came to pick me up from parties a few times when I had too much to drink, as you do when you’re 18. He asked me out a few times but as he is 10 years older than me and had a son I wasn’t ready for a relationship that serious.
We lost touch for a few years after that.
One day he popped up in my Facebook chat and we started talking he came over that night and we spent all night talking it was fantastic, during that night I realised that he was amazing and I was very into him, I was older and had a child of my own and was much more open to the idea of being a step parent. The next night he came over again and we became inseparable straight away. We now have a son together, I am so glad I met him as he truly is the best thing that has ever happened to me, besides my kids of course!”
